Primary Uses

 

Alizap Tablet is primarily prescribed for adults in the management of:

  1. Plaque Psoriasis: Treatment of moderate to severe plaque psoriasis (a skin condition that causes red, scaly, and itchy patches). It is typically used when other systemic therapies or phototherapy have been inadequate, unsuitable, or intolerable.

  2. Psoriatic Arthritis: Treatment of active psoriatic arthritis, a type of arthritis that affects some people with psoriasis, helping to control joint pain and swelling.

  3. Behçet's Disease: Relief of painful mouth ulcers associated with Behçet's disease, a rare inflammatory condition.

 

Common Side Effects

 

Some of the most frequently reported side effects include:

  • Diarrhea

  • Nausea and Vomiting

  • Headache

  • Upper respiratory tract infection

  • Decreased appetite, which may lead to weight loss (patients are often advised to monitor their weight regularly).

 

Important Warnings

 

  • Depression: This medication may cause or worsen depression, and in rare cases, lead to suicidal thoughts. Patients with a history of depression should use it with caution, and monitoring for mood changes is recommended.

  • Pregnancy and Breastfeeding: It is generally not recommended for use during pregnancy or while breastfeeding. Consult your doctor immediately if you become pregnant while on this medication.

  • Severe Kidney Impairment: Dose adjustment may be necessary for patients with severe kidney problems.
